Parliamentary State Secretary
Benjamin Strasser was born on 9 February 1987 in Weingarten in the Upper Swabia‑Lake Constance region. After graduating from high school, he studied law at the University of Konstanz where he passed his First State Examination in Law. After his two‑year legal traineeship at Stuttgart Regional Court, he passed his Second State Examination in Law and became parliamentary advisor to the Committee of Inquiry into the National Socialist Underground (NSU) cases of the Baden‑Württemberg Land Parliament. He has been a member of the German Bundestag since October 2017 as an ordinary member and spokesperson in the Committee on Internal Affairs – responsible for all topics related to domestic security. He was spokesperson for religious affairs and Anti‑Semitism Commissioner for the Free Democratic Party (FDP) in the German Bundestag until 2021.
