State Secretary
Dr Angelika Schlunck was born in the city of Ulm on 3 May 1960. After graduating from high school, she studied law in Munich and Geneva until 1984. After completing the First and Second State Examinations in Law and a Master's in Public Administration at the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University in Cambridge, she became a prosecutor at the public prosecution office Munich II in 1988 and also attained a doctoral degree in law (Dr. jur.). From 1991 to 2010, she worked as a legal officer and later as a head of division in the Federal Ministry of Justice. In her time at the Federal Ministry of Justice, she held the position of liaison officer at the French Ministry of Justice in Paris from 2000 to 2001, where she studied part‑time at the French Ministry of the Interior’s Institut des Hautes Etudes de la Sécurité Intérieure.
From 2010 onwards, she headed the Representation of the Free State of Bavaria to the European Union in Brussels. From 2014 to 2021, she was Deputy Head of the Office of the Federal President and Head of Directorate‑General Z (Central Services) at the Office of the Federal President.
